Guangdong inks 10% GDP growth
South China's fast growth province of Guangdong posted 10 percent economic growth last year.
Guangdong is a province on the South China Sea coast of the People's Republic of China.
It surpassed Henan and Sichuan to become the most populous province in China in January 2005.
Since 1989, Guangdong has topped the total GDP rankings among all provincial-level divisions, with Jiangsu and Shandong second and third in rank.
According to provincial annual preliminary statistics, Guangdong's GDP in 2009 reached CNY 3,908 billion, or US$572 billion, making its economy roughly the same size as that of Turkey or Indonesia
Gross domestic product in Guangdong reached 5.3 trillion yuan (840 billion U.S. dollars) in 2011, the provincial bureau of statistics said in a statement.
Guangdong's exports rose 17.4 percent year-on-year to 532 billion U.S. dollars, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, the province's fiscal revenue totaled 551 billion yuan (87 billion U.S. dollars), up 22.1 percent from a year earlier.
The province will speed industrial transformation and upgrading to move up the value chain while maintaining steady economic growth in 2012, the statement added.
