Balfour Beatty Hong Kong Joint Venture secures two contracts worth £180 million
Infrastructure group Balfour Beatty (LSE: BBY) said that its 50% owned
Hong Kong based contractor Gammon Construction has won two new
contracts with a combined value of £180 million.
Gammon will
receive £74 million for the redevelopment of the Victoria Park swimming
pool complex by the Architectural Service Department of the Hong Kong
government and £106 million for the construction of the Kennedy Town
Station and overrun tunnels for MTR Corporation.
The Victoria
Park site occupies 24,000 sq m (square metres) and the redevelopment
plan comprises an indoor heated main pool, a multi-purpose pool and
other leisure facilities including a handball court and two skating
rinks. The Kennedy Town Station and overrun tunnels contract for MTR
Corporation forms part of the West Island Line, delivering a new
railway link to the Western district, which is one of the few remaining
urban areas in Hong Kong that does not have a railway.
