Lawless is returning to the UK from Mozambique. The outgoing chief executive joined the company in February 2010. However in this relatively short period of time he has help steer the firm through a critical period.
In April 2010 Noventa restarted the Marropino Tantalum mine, in Mozambique. Since then an intensive commissioning period saw a four-fold increase from the early 50,000 pound (lb) a year production rate up to 200,000 pounds.
One a corporate level the group has added an important North American listing and it successfully completed a series of fund raisings.
The company's previous chief executive, and the director in charge of ‘Project Restart', John Allan has stepped in following Lawless' departure.
Noventa said that Allan will assume the chief executive role for the time being.
"We are very sorry to lose Pat Lawless, but fully understand his reasons and wish him and his family all the best at this difficult time," chairman Eric Kohn said. "We are very grateful to John Allan for stepping into the breach."
