GLG Life Tech triples distribution network in China
Vancouver-based GLG Life Tech Corp (TSE:GLG) said on Friday that distribution in China for its All Natural and Zero Calorie Beverage and Foods Company (ANOC) has more than tripled to 65,000 stores in the past month.
ANOC has raised the number of its distributors from 300 in mid-May to over 400 partners, while signing up with more large regional distributors to target the July to September peak season beverage sales, the company said.
In the past month, growth has resulted in a three-fold expansion in the distribution reach of ANOC's products to over 65,000 stores, consisting of about 6,000 national grocery stores and 59,000 retail outlets.
"Broadening the distribution reach and new product launches are key milestones in the development of the ANOC business and brand," said GLG chairman and CEO, Luke Zhang.
"The progressive expansion of ANOC's distributor network not only benefits the sales of the current line of products, but also the launch of upcoming new products."
ANOC plans to market six new flavours of vitamin-enhanced waters as well as five fruit- flavoured dairy beverages, in the ensuing months. Currently, it is developing a wide array of zero or low calorie food and beverage products sweetened with stevia, a natural calorie-free sweetner derived from the leaves of the stevia plant.
In December, GLG signed a joint venture with China Agriculture and Healthy Foods Company, established for the sale and distribution of zero calorie beverage and food products in China that are sweetened with GLG's stevia extracts.
