Nokia posts Q2 loss as sales drop
Nokia Corp (NYSE:NOK) reported a loss in its second quarter as sales sank, but shares rose as results were better than expected.
The once-reigning handheld device provider posted a net loss of EUR 368 million ($530.2 million USD), or EUR 0.10 ($0.14 USD) loss per share, in the three months ending June 30, compared to a EUR 227 million ($327.1 million USD) gain, or EUR 0.06 ($0.09 USD) profit per share, a year ago.
Excluding acquisition-related deferred revenues, and restructuring costs, the company earned EUR 0.06 ($0.09 USD) per share, compared to EUR 0.11 ($0.16 USD) per share, a year ago.
