Sohu launches social networking space
Chinese web portal Sohu.com has completed the beta test of its social networking service website, which was opened for registration last week. The new service has been named White Society.
Sohu's vice-president, Fang Gang, has said the service will be different from most Chinese social networking sites by not focusing as much on entertainment. It will however be seeking to integrating it with the company's other products.
Facebook is currently blocked off by China's net-nanny. Meanwhile as a host of new social networking site launch in the country, with the latest addition Sino-German joint venture Kishioo.
Sohu.com will also be reporting its second quarter 2009 unaudited financial results next Monday before U.S. market hours.
