HTC in RMB 47m deal to develop 3G handsets for China Mobile
China Mobile has signed an agreement with Taiwan's HTC Corp to develop 3G handsets for its TD- SCDMA network.
The deal, in which China Mobile will give HTC RMB 47m to develop new products, is expected to help China Mobile increase its variety of 3G handsets.
HTC is already developing a TD-SCDMA smartphone called Qilin and plans to develop about seven new models for China Mobile by next year. The Qilin model will become one of China Mobile's flagship 3G models, according to HTC Chief Executive Officer Peter Chou.
