Jinshan Gold reports new record gold production at CSH mine in September
Jinshan Gold Mines Inc (TSX: JIN) announced a second consecutive monthly production record for its CSH gold mine in Inner Mongolia, China. In September, Jinshan poured 11,388 ounces of gold, which is a new record high since the company commenced production in July 2007.
Jinshan Gold Mines is focused on gold production and acquisitions in China. The company began producing gold at the CSH mine in July 2007 and it is actively advancing its portfolio of gold exploration properties in China.
Production in September exceeded the previous record of 8,525 ounces which was achieved in August 2009. The performance also exceeds the mine's design expectations of 9,000 ounces per month.
Gold production has been steadily increasing this year from approximately 6,900 ounces in April 2009. The record gold production has been achieved with increased mining output and better control on the ore grade.
At the CSH mine, Jinshan has also completed the installation of a 30,000 tonne per day crushing facility, which has been test running since mid-August 2009. The throughput is gradually ramping up and Jinshan expects the crushing plant to reach the designed capacity in the first quarter of 2010. The crushing facility is expected to substantially increase the gold production from current levels.
A total of 60,063 ounces of gold were poured in the first nine months of 2009, a substantial increase compared to 42,160 ounces for the same period in 2008.
Earlier this month, Jinshan announced the appointment of a new chief executive officer. Mr Xin Song is also vice president at Jinshan's 41 percent shareholder China National Gold Group, where he heads up the resource development and technology management division.
In September, Jinshan agreed the acquisition of the Jiama Gold property from China Natural Gold. The Jiama property in Southern Tibet is currently in the development stage, and the current owners have nearly completed construction of a first stage of mining and processing infrastructure that establishes an underground mining operation with a production capacity of 6,000 tonnes per day.
The operation will produce a copper concentrate with gold and silver credits and a molybdenum concentrate. The property owners have also obtained relevant permits for initial mining operations on the property.
