China-Biotics Completes Phase 1 Production Upgrade
China-Biotics Inc (Nasdaq: CHBT) updated investors on the progress business has been making, over the past two months the Company added eight new bulk additive customers and begun Phase one trial production at its new production facility.
China-Biotics Inc manufactures biotechnology products and supplements, it primarily manufacturers pro-biotic dietary supplements. Through its wholly owned subsidiary, Shanghai Shining Biotechnology Co Ltd the Company has operations in Shanghai. Its proprietary product portfolio contains live microbial nutritional supplements under the "Shining" brand
The newly acquired customers bring the total number of bulk additive customers to 24. The customers are mainly engaged in manufacture of dairy, nutritional supplement, and animal feed products.
The trial production of Phase I began recently, China-Biotics’ new state-of-the-art production facility in Qing Pu Industrial Park in Shanghai will produce up to 150 metric tons of probiotics per year. According to China-Biotic the second phase of the company’s production expansion will be completed by the end of the year.
China-Biotics' Chairman and CEO, Mr. Jinan Song commented on the company’s on-going development:
"We continue to experience significant demand for our probiotics products and our pipeline of potential new bulk additive customers remains strong. As a result, we expect to achieve revenue growth of at least 50% during the 2010 fiscal year."
