Zhefu wins Vietnam hydro contract
Shares in Zhejiang Fuchunjiang Hydropower Equipment (Zhefu, SH:002266) rose 6.67 percent as the company announced it is to sell two 50 Megawatt (MW) Khebo axial flow turbines to Vietnam.
In 2008, China’s installed hydropower capacity reached 171m kilowatts, of which large and medium-sized hydropower stations made up about 110m kilowatts.
According to the ‘Renewable Energy Long-term Development Plan’, installed capacity will reach 190m kilowatts by 2010 and 300 million kilowatts by 2020.
Zhefu currently ranks sixth of the Chinese hydro equipment manufacturers, holding more than 10 percent of the domestic market.
As one of only three companies in China with the technology to produce pumped storage hydropower equipment, Zhefu is in a good position to win several large contracts over the next 15 years.
China will build 30,000MW to 40,000MW of pumped storage capacity, attracting some RMB60bn to 80bn of investment into equipment, which according to the plan must be produced by Chinese companies.
