Trina Solar inaugurates North America's largest rooftop solar installation
Trina Solar (NYSE:TSL), an integrated solar photovoltaic producer (PV) of ingots, wafers, cells and PV modules, has launched North America’s largest rooftop solar array in New Jersey’s Atlantic City. The project was completed in late December 2008 and inaugurated this weekend.
The array on the rooftop of the Atlantic City Convention Center, which consists of over 13,400 modules and provides up to 2.4MW of energy, is designed to power up to 280 homes and curtail 2,350 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The panels will produce around a quarter of the building's energy and provide the centre with around $4.4m in savings over 20 years.
Mr Gao Jifan, Trina Solar's Chairman and CEO, said in a statement, "We are delighted by the completion of the project, which helps bring clean, green solar energy solutions to Atlantic City. We are proud that Trina Solar's modules were selected, and the success of this project demonstrates our capacity to deliver large scale commercial solar solutions as we continue to broaden our distribution networks and project partnership agreements in the US".
