Fluormin appoints Minay Mahidharia as general counsel and company secretary
Fluorspar producer Fluormin (LON:FLOR) announced that Minay Mahidharia has been appointed as general counsel and company secretary.
Mahidharia is a UK-qualified corporate finance lawyer who joins Fluormin from a leading international law firm, the company said in a stock exchange statement.
Formerly known as Maghreb Minerals, the company's focus was lead and zinc mining until the sale of those assets to Glencore over this summer.
It owns the Witkop fluorspar mine in South Africa and aims to become a major mover in the market for the mineral.
Also known as calcium fluoride, fluorpsar is used in the manufacture of aluminium, to produce Teflon that coats non-stick pans and to create the fluorocarbons used in fridges and freezers.
Last month, the company took another step closer to completing its acquisition of fluorspar mining firm Sallies when it revealed that Sallies' shareholders voted in favour of the proposed deal at a general meeting in Johannesburg.
As a result Fluormin has succeeded in its bid to acquire 100 per cent of the ordinary share capital of Sallies. The deal is expected to close and take effect on December 19 2011.
