The Group is principally engaged in three core businesses: (1) advertising sales, which contribute the largest portion of the turnover; (2) turnover from printing, which includes revenue generated from the printing of publications arranged by Beijing Youth Daily Logistics Co., Ltd. (“BYD Logistics”); and (3) trading of print related materials, which involves the supply and trading of, among other things, newsprint, ink, lubricants, films, PS boards and rubber sheets to third parties, including commercial printers.

Beijing Media profits up 138%
Beijing Media reported an increase in profits of 137.67 percent before tax and turnover increase by 29.06 percent.
The main growth registered was in Real estate advertising, the major industry advertising of the Company, which recorded a 28.55 percent growth in 2008.
Revenue from advertising in 2008 stood at RMB 480,633,000, representing an increase of 15.33 percent on 2007. The majority of this was generated from advertising sold for the Beijing Youth Daily.
Expecting a downturn in 2009, the company has made advances in several new business areas: road plate advertising, new vision media, outdoor advertising, aviation media and fashion magazines.
Earnings per share are increased by 300 percent to RMB0.20, and a proposed final dividend per share increase of 185.71 percent to RMB0.20.
